Spring in our front yard

The tree and bushes in our front yard have bloomed. It only looks this nice for a few days each year.

Art Museum Field Trip

I went today with the kids' fourth grade class on a field trip to the Walters Art Museum, a great museum where they actually allow you to take pictures! The kids have been studying mythology, and creating their own mythological characters and stories, so this trip was in concert with that.

I thought I would decorate our brown-bag lunches appropriately. Bet you can't name all the Greek myth stories on our lunches.

I got the art for the lunch bags here.

More Katie Art

Katie also has some art displayed at the Columbia Mall through this Saturday. As part of a class project, the kids made puppets of themselves in a career. My favorite part of Katie's puppet is the little clay dog she's holding.

In case you can't read the speech balloon thing, it says:
"Hello, I am Katie N. I'm a vet. I'm a vet because I get to see all kinds of interesting animals every day."

Katie sells art

Katie has been trying to figure out ways to make money, because she wants a Nintendo DS game that is around $30. She finally came up with a good solution. Her friend Svea decided to have a lemonade stand in her front yard today, and Katie set up a portrait studio along with it. She charged $2 for a portrait, or $1 if you just wanted her to draw a picture of something else. She made $13.

So, we can now say our daughter is a professional artist. Here's the picture she drew of me (she added the self-portrait for free, but I still had to pay $2.)

Karla's Bahraini digs

Don't you feel sorry for her? The window has an ocean view. The ceilings are 12 feet high. When she sends some daytime pix, I'll post those.
